B i o g r a p h y

Pianist Ryan Frasier Smith has performed in venues across the U.S. as a soloist and collaborator. Recent engagements include the University of Idaho, Faith Presbyterian Church - Tacoma, Limestone College, the University of South Carolina, the Palmetto Theater, Columbia Museum of Art, and Piccolo Spoleto.

Dr. Smith earned his B.M. from Furman University where he studied with Ruby Morgan and an M.M. and D.M.A. at the University of South Carolina where he studied with Marina Lomazov and Charles Fugo. He studied piano wellness with Sheila Paige for many years, and he has coached with renowned pianists such as Ann Schein, Robert Roux, and Michael Gurt. He has a strong pedagogy background under Scott Price and Ann Guest.

A committed teacher, Dr. Smith has been a college professor since 2013. He earned tenure at Coker University and is now a Fellow of Music at New Saint Andrews College. His students have been successful in adjudications and masterclasses for many years including the South Carolina Music Teachers Association, the Spokane Piano Competition, and numerous local auditions.
